Litly

Litly is a personal project, created to raise awareness about children's literacy in the US and to connect individuals with resources that support this important cause.

What's Missing?

Non-profits often face the challenge of promoting their work due to tight budgets and limited resources, making it difficult for them to effectively reach their communities. This lack of visibility can be especially problematic for critical issues like children's literacy, where raising awareness and driving engagement are essential to creating lasting impact. Without the proper outreach, valuable programs and resources may go unnoticed by those who need them most, underscoring the importance of clear communication and community connection. Ensuring these organizations can effectively share their message is crucial in tackling literacy challenges.

The Fix

Litly strives to be an accessible and informative platform that connects motivated individuals with local literacy non-profits making a real impact. Whether users want to learn more about children's literacy challenges or get involved directly, Litly bridges the gap between non-profits with limited advertising budgets and people eager to help make a difference in their communities.

Data Gathering

Final Prototype

The Deep Dive

Extensive research was conducted using reputable sources such as the National Library of Medicine, Senate.gov, childstats.org, the National Assessment of Educational Progress, and Reading is Fundamental to ensure the accuracy of children's literacy statistics.

The data was compiled and organized using Notion, while prototyping was done in Figma to create a clean, minimalist design that effectively communicates key information. The site itself was built using Framer, balancing a dynamic and engaging aesthetic with robust accessibility controls to reduce motion, enhance contrast, and adjust color saturation.

Additional research was done to verify that the listed non-profits are ethical, reputable organizations actively working to improve children's literacy in their communities.
